Andrew Otto
Charged is……
…..about my love for photography, journalism and whatever
else strikes my interest.
My first job was as a staff photographer at The Herald, a community
newspaper in Jasper, Indiana, which believes that great storytelling
is when words and pictures work together.
During that time I earned Indiana Sports Photographer of the year in
2003 and was runner-up Indiana Photographer of the Year in 2004.
November of 2004 I made one of my favorite pictures when
the aurora borealis as it made a rare appearance over Indiana.
The image won the first place in the pictorial division of the 2005
Atlanta Photojournalism Seminar.
What I am doing this year as a masters student at the
University of Westminster is an extension of my former
job as a photojournalist.
Studying online journalism, I have realized that the web
demands I become a writer as well as a video journalist.
I speak fluent Spanish. The first photo essay I shot documented
baseball players in the Dominican Republic.
I lived in the DR for 4 months between 2001 and 2002.
Hi Andre Wotto. We chatted at the Transform Photography Exhibition, Shoreditch, in November. Just wondering if there is going to be footage of the event online? Sincerely. Susan
Susan,
Thanks for leaving a comment and yes there will be a video. I will try to get it posted within the week so please keep checking this blog. I need some still images to complete the piece.
